Riley's Easter Bunny Loot - see the green light saber that started it all on the right?!

The Easter Bunny hid eggs in our house like he used to in Kelly's when Kelly was growing up! So Riley got a warm up round before we headed to my Aunt Char's for the annual Easter celebration!

He's a fast learner!

Showing Grandpa his new light saber!

Easter egg hunting! His 2nd cousin  Courtney helped him a little!

Now he's on the run!

There are so many eggs - you have to hide them EVERY WHERE!

And there's still one every foot!

Mommy! I'm busy here!

Play for Sport!

Riley started a new class a couple of weeks ago called Play for Sport. It's a really cool concept started by the parents of twin boys. When their boys were Riley's age, they said they would sign them up for soccer and one would love it and the other would hate it. Then the exact opposite was true for baseball, so they came up with this concept Play for Sport where kids as young as 18 months come to their classes and do all sports - that way you can see what sports they enjoy or may have a natural affinity for.

At first, I was a little skeptical when we met Coach Martin - he's pretty young, but he's GREAT with the kids! As you can see in the video...they can only "wait their turn" and follow directions for so long, but in reality he does a really good job with him! Riley LOVES Coach Mar-TEEEENNN! As he calls him! Every Tuesday he's super excited to get to see Coach Martin - we're even going to have his birthday party there!

Star Wars!

Wow! I had already created a "Star Wars" placeholder post, but we continue to reach new levels on the Star Wars obsession! So much so that even Kelly says - "I may have started it, but Riley's taken it to a whole new level!" Which is saying A LOT!

So it all started with a simple light saber from the Easter Bunny, then it morphed into a light saber app on Mommy's phone and ultimately Riley's phone and Daddy's and the iPad. Initially, he was more obsessed with the games, then it transitioned to the real light sabers. So much so that I would have to put his light sabers on the end of his bed when he would go to sleep at night so he could see them. Then I would go in the following morning either to find him hugging the light saber like he hugs his "B" bear or he would be standing in his crib light saber extended saying "Mommy - want to hit light sabers with me?" Can I get a good morning first?! LOL!

So we usually have to have at least 1 light saber dual  before we can go to school, then that's the FIRST thing he does when he gets home too. And we continue to duel all night until bath time!

Riley's Star Wars Wall
While Kelly is still trying to recreate his Star Wars figure collection from his youth (that's an entire other post/blog/story), he has also already started Riley's collection. He puts them in collectors protection boxes and started hanging them on Riley's bedroom wall - much to my demise, but what can you do?! Gotta pick your battles! However, how cruel is it to hang toys on a 2 year old's wall that he can't open? LOL! We've actually passed the arc of Riley even asking to open them - he'll ask you to hand him Obi or R2-Me-Too (R2 D2), Yoda, etc. And he'll hold them and check them out from every angle, but he's stopped asking to open them.

One day Riley stayed home from school with Daddy b/c he wasn't feeling well, so what do you think they did?! They watched Empire Strikes back for the first time!!! Riley made it through the WHOLE movie! He just kept saying - More light sabers Daddy! More light sabers! Or repeating everything he heard them say!

I love the crossed leg! He just started doing that!

On two different, but consecutive days - his Yoda figure then his light saber (Yoda's green one) had to ride to school with us. At least he's still good about knowing some things can't go to school, but they'll be in his car seat when I pick him up! After lots of reassurance!

Yoda's Light Sabre riding to school with us!

Can I open Yoda?!

Sorry! Daddy said No! :(
So he knows all the main people - Darth Vader and his light saber is red, Yoda's is green, etc. He even knows some of the obscure characters like Darth Sideous?! He actually even knows Anakin Skywalker is Darth Vader so the punch line is already ruined for him!

He gets the red light saber and says "I am the FATHER!" And now he will critique your light saber skills - like hold it higher Mommy, this way or that way. And sometimes I'm a little scared for my life! LOL! He's starting to put some power behind those swings!

So this last weekend we went to see 3 different fireworks shows. At the 2nd one, they were selling what other than....light sabers!?! :) I was really proud of Riley though b/c the rule was he had to turn off the light saber during the fireworks, and he did it!! Yea!

What? Light Sabers at Fireworks! Say it isn't so!

Riley watching Boom Boom - notice the light saber is OFF!
The final night was here in Irving, and the Irving Symphony played for the hour leading up to the fireworks show. The conductor announced most of the songs, and he says - we always throw in some fun ones at an event like this so the next 2 songs are Darth Vader's March and the Star Wars theme. I looked at Kelly and said - "Are you kidding me?! Did they know Riley was coming?! :) If Riley recognizes these...we've reached yet another level!"

Guess what - as soon as they got into Darth Vader's march - Riley turns around and says - Mommy! Darth Vader's song! Yes! I'm serious! Then when they played the Star Wars theme - it took him a little bit, but he figured it out too! Seriously?!?!You have to be able to hear these so you can hear the music too.

I can only pray Riley also got some of our athletic talent, or bless his heart - he will be a hopeless Star Wars nerd! No offense to any Star Wars nerds! :) My husband is a Star Wars nerd trapped in a jock's body! But STILL! Let's give him a fighting chance!

The Positive Re-branding of Fatherhood

I'm working on another round of flash blogging! Have been for the last 2 weeks! But in lieu of my posts, I thought I'd share this one that I can't agree with more!

Riley and I are SO lucky to have a SuperDad in our lives!! And we couldn't love him or appreciate him more!!

Beep Beep in the Jeep!

Riley has a book called Beep! Beep in the Jeep! I bought him at the Denver airport on my way home from Beaver Creek with Angie and Amanda last August. For a while, it was the ONLY book he wanted to read! So here's a picture of him riding home with his Daddy & Grammy in the jeep. Unfortunately, this is also the day the "Uh Oh the Jeep won't go happened too"! Which is another line in the book!

He LOVES riding in the bumpy Jeep though! The highlight of his morning or afternoon if Daddy takes or picks him up in the Jeep!

Sad Day For Mom!
While it's not official yet-Riley's next size will no longer be in toddler! :( Where oh where did my little baby go?! Mommy's not ready for him to be in big boy sizes!!! I was at Nordstrom's Half Yearly Sale which I LOVE bc the things they have on sale now will actually still be out this winter so it's more like a Pre-sale than a sale on all last season's stuff. Anyway, I asked what size after 4T, and they sent me to the big boys section to look at 4 & maybe even 5's!! NOOOO!! I'm not ready for that!!!

You just can't make this stuff up!

Yes! Yes! I know! I have A LOT of catching up to do! I'll get to it eventually! It seems we haven't had one spare second lately and the next few weeks don't look so good either!

But I had to post this one real quick before I forget. So Riley is totally NOT ready to potty in the potty! He screams, cries, etc if you even mention it! But on the other hand - he went in the potty by himself and pulled his pants down and sat on it 3 different times last week, so I'm optimistic that it's going to "click" any moment now! We just try to be supportive and seize the moment any time he shows promise.

At bath time, we now have a game called "Naked Booty Boy" that we have to play every night before and after Riley's bath/shower. He literally loves to run a lap around the upstairs of our house from our room to his room then over and jump on this bean bag in his corner with his stuffed animals! I used to just say "Naked Booty Boy" when he would do it, so that has now become "Mommy - I want to 'Naked Booty Boy'"!

So last night he did the "Naked Booty Boy", and while he was doing it - I was unpacking his toothbrush from our weekend trip. All of the sudden he comes around the corner from my room and says "Come here Mommy!" and grabs my hand. He leads me all the way to our closet, then points to the floor and says "I potty!" so proudly! It took it a second for it to register...then I was like "You what?!?! WE don't potty in the floor Riley! We potty in the potty!" Immediately, his bottom lip sticks out and starts quivering! Awe..I hurt his feelings! I gave him a hug and told him it's okay! Next time he'll go in the potty..then he helped me clean it up.

So Kelly was downstairs doing something..and Riley ran to the stairs and said "Daddy! I go potty!" Kelly was like you did?! In the potty? Riley said no! I pottied in the floor! And Kelly was like we don't potty in the floor like a dog!! And Riley said "Dog?! The dog says Ruff Ruff Daddy! I pottied in the floor!

By this point, I was seriously about to pee in my pants I was laughing so hard! And Kelly was doing the same as he walked up the stairs having this conversation!

I just looked at him when he came around the corner and said - we just can't make stuff up this funny! Hence - the title of the post!

There was another one of these similar "literal" conversations we had earlier in the day, so I'll have to rack my brain to try to remember that one later!
