Let the Battles Begin!

The first of many light saber battles I'm sure. Riley was calling Conley Baby Darth Sidious! Nice!

Star Wars Bunk Beds!

Riley randomly did this yesterday while he was playing. It's Star Wars bunk beds! LOL!

He's lying down too...since they are in their "bunk beds".

Fake sleeping...I'm buying it!

That lasted about as long as I expected!

Here's the video interview - it wasn't as good the 2nd time around when I had the camera. His explanation and descriptions the first time around were awesome!

Random Acts of Riley

I have a list of blogs to do when I have time! Ha! Ha! Although...knock on wood...at 7 weeks old we seem to have turned a corner in the last few days with Conley at least taking 1 or 2 pretty good naps a day without being held in someone's arms! I'm getting really good at doing things 1-handed though! I did have a little break when Kelly's parents came for a week when Riley was 6 weeks old so I was able to catch up on household things that had been left undone! Literally - I still had not unpacked my suit case from the hospital!

Anyway...this post is about a few Random Acts of Riley that I've experienced or been told over the last few weeks.

One day I was actually dressed by the end of the day and not due to feed Conley so I got to pick Riley up from school. On the drive home, I always ask if he had a good day, what did he learn, do, etc. This particular day he said - "Mommy, I had to go to the office. I in trouble." Oh no! I thought, who'd he hit this time?! LOL! I said - "What for?" He said "I was talking during nap time." I said - "Ri, you have to be quiet during nap time even if you aren't sleepy so everyone else can rest too." I turned around to look at him in his car seat and with every ounce of his little being he said "Mommy, I just can't be quiet!" Bless his little heart! I totally believe him! The boy NEVER stops talking! He's just being honest! I said, I understand it's hard sometimes but you have to try your hardest so everyone else can rest.

And we probably don't help with our routine at home - Kelly and I each lie in bed with him at night for a few minutes after reading books to say his prayer and talk and sing songs, so he's used to getting one more round of talking/singing out of his system before he finally "powers down" for the night.

To say his prayer we go back and forth:
I say - Now I lay me
Ri says - down to sleep
I say - I pray the Lord
Ri says - my soul to keep
I say - your love be with me
Ri says - through the night
I say - And wake me with
Ri says - the morning light.

All together - AMEN! :)

He also has another one they say at school God our Father - he says that one all by himself!

Then Riley sings songs - Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Itsy Bitsy Spider and ABC's 2 times through. I've been trying to "video" it without the video - just the audio, but he always wants to grab my phone once he sees the light come on.

It is one of the most prized and precious times to spend with him....

One night after we did our "usual", I could see his little mind just working..and I asked him what he was thinking about. He paused for a second then said without missing a beat "I'm thinking about a Darth Maul red double lightsaber Mommy!" Bless this boy's heart!!

Sticking with the Star Wars theme - Kelly and I went to Riley's Thanksgiving luncheon last Friday. While we were there his teach told us 3 stories. She said one day he was running around and jumping when he was supposed to be lining up at the door, and when she told him to get in line. He turned around and looked at her and said "Ms. Amy - I'm a jedi!" Being the quick on her feet 3 yr old teacher she is - she said - "Well jedi's get in line too! They lead by example!"

Then she said when she says let's sing songs - he asks her to sing the Star Wars song - which is really the Darth Vader march - Riley walks around our house singing "Dun-Dun-Dun-Dun" to the rhythm of the Darth Vader march! OMG - speaking of that - our friend Anne sent us the BEST Thanksgiving card that had Darth Vader's breathing followed by his march playing when you open it. Riley got the BIGGEST smile on his face when he opened that! And marched around with it ALL night! Of course, after he said Daddy let's play lightsabers - I'm Darth Vader and did his breathing!

Another school story was that Riley was sitting quietly beside a different teacher one day for a long time, then he turned and looked at Ms. Amber and totally out of the blue said "Ms. Amber - I love Anakin Skywalker!" Like I said before....bless his little heart!!

Ms. Amy said if she remembers she's going to threaten to tell Darth Vader that Riley's not minding! LOL! I can see him replying with "I AM Darth Vader!" so that may backfire!

What can we say....the boy has the Star Wars bug - BAD!!!!!

I think I've said it before...I can only IMAGINE the things that will come out of his mouth! Years of laughter and entertainment are guaranteed for Kelly and I...and now I can only imagine the things that will transpire between he and Conley...and the oh so many lightsaber duels that will happen in my house!

Riley & Mommy's First Star Wars Convention!

Help us all...and remember to NEVER say NEVER! This could be you one day too! :)

GiGi came to help the first weekend we were home with Conley, and Kelly and I had planned to take Riley to a Star Wars convention that just so happened to be 5 minutes down the street at the new Irving Convention Center.

As we were walking up Riley was pointing to every character on the signs and all excited. He wasn't as into the people dressed in costume as we thought he'd be. He was happy once he had another lightsaber though. We just had to chase him around making sure he didn't take people or displays out.

I even saw him challenge another boy dressed up as Luke Skywalker by tapping his lightsaber into that kids. I had to intervene!

Yes...adults do this! :)

Riley checking out Jango Fett armor

Boba Fett and Han Solo in carbonite - Riley said there's Han Solo!

It's a miracle I got a CHEESE AND he's actually looking at the camera!

He was more interested in Han than Darth at first.

Now he's wanting to check him out up close...behind the lines.

Daddy can take Darth!

My adorable Star Wars nerds!

REAL RD-D2 replicas..yes people do this in their spare time! You too can have one for $10k!

Riley checking out R2's parts.

All the different helmets.

Daddy & Darth Vader - Riley wanted NOTHING to do with him!

Until Darth offered him his lightsaber. Then Riley couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work.

It's not working Mommy!

So we had to get Riley his own lightsaber after the Darth encounter!

Riley getting Darth Vader's soldiers...notice how the clones are anything but clones...there were some in every shape and size at this place!

Luckily Conley slept the entire time we were gone, so it was a successful outing.

All Packages are Star Wars

Riley's home ill today with Conley and I - that's a whole other post in and of itself - we're all suffering the 2nd week hangover this week - I've been sick, now Riley's sick...we just hope Conley doesn't end up sick! :(

Anyway - we received a baby present package in the mail today. Thanks Ana & Ross! :) And I went downstairs to get it, then as I was bringing it back up the stairs - Riley says - "Mommy, Star Wars package!". That should give you an idea of how many Star Wars packages this household has received since Kelly's obsession with that started...

The only way I could convince him it wasn't a Star Wars package was to let him be the one to open it! Too funny! Or too sad...I'm not sure which yet!

Star Wars Rides to School!

We went through a phase where the lightsabers had to ride to school with us, and now it's the figures themselves. He's usually pretty good about knowing they can't go to school, but one morning he was fighting that a bit so I had a moment of creative brilliance (which I NEVER have) where I came up with a "special place" just for the figures to stay in where NO ONE else could find them until I picked Riley up from school. Thank goodness! Saved me!

Their "special" place in my console.
To be honest, I went to work and forgot, but Riley didn't! As soon as I picked him up from school, as we were walking out he said - Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are waiting for me in their special place!

Star Wars Kiss! Seriously?!

So I'm lying down with Riley for a few minutes after we read night-night books like I do every night since his big boy bed...and he gives me a kiss...which is normal! Sometimes he gives me a BUNCH of kisses! But tonight was different...he kissed me an extra long "MMMUUUUAAAAHHHH" then says - "Mommy, we're kissing like Star Wars." In the dark back part of my mind...I'm thinking..well yeah...we are Luke and Princess Leia ARE brother and sister! LOL! :) But obviously I didn't say that out loud! I just said -we are? Like who? And he said like Luke and Princess Leia. Seriously?! I thought I had a few years before he even noticed that part of the movie! I also thought we were safe playing a PG movie from the 70's b/c that would be the equivalent of a G movie in the 2000's, but I guess nothing gets by him!

I'll take whatever kind of kisses he wants to give me these days b/c I know FAR too soon, he'll be WAY too cool and grown up to be dishing them out to me anymore! Makes me sad to think about it...but I'm not crying! Yet...

Me-2

Me-2 is R2-D2! I don't know how Riley arrived there, but he knows Kelly & I say R2-D2, but he calls him Me-2! It's so sweet! And Friday night, Riley actually went to sleep holding his itty bitty Me-2 figure (one of the few he can play with) in his hands on his heart! Awe!!!! My sweet little man!

So Kelly & I ordered him what must be one of the ONLY Star Wars toys he doesn't already have-a plush Me-2 that he can sleep with. The only issue may be that it talks so it may wake him up if he rolls over on it! Ha! I can only hope it will somehow replace 'B'! The one time released white bear from Hallmark for Valentine's day that we will never be able to replace if something happens to him!!! And it's all I can do to not make something happen to him! He's so dingy now no matter what I do to try to return him to pristine white!!

The Star Wars Room!

Luke Skywalker life size Fathead & Darth Vader Night Light! As well as some ship hanging from the ceiling that I don't know the name of!  And a Darth Vader cloth bin in the lower right hand corner - not sure what we'll put in that - probably the Star Wars books we also bought!

The Death Star, another ship that all Riley and I know is that R2-ME 2 (R2-D2) is driving it! :) Star Wars emblem and all his big boy bed bedding! This is a daybed Talana got Kelly and I to use as a sofa/guest bed when we got married, so initially it was for "test purposes". Still deciding if we'll keep this one or get him a new twin bed so the duvet fits on it better. We've since added a rail to the open side so he won't roll off during his nighttime circus act!

The figure collection Daddy started...and somehow it magically just keeps growing...and growing...

The duvet cover is the exact pattern of sheets Kelly had growing up b/c they are the Empire Strikes Back 30th Anniversary "re-release" - no Kelly and I aren't old at all! Ha!
No....no one in our house is OCD at all! Definitely not me...and for sure not Kelly! Bless Riley's heart...if he gets it....he gets it honest!

Riley also has the matching backpack, another towel, a water container with Darth Vader on it, another set of Star Wars sheets, the 1st reader series books, and a matching dishes set that has the same pattern on it. I think we literally bought everything Pottery Barn Kids had in stock the day we went...they even brought things from the back for us! Can you say...SUCKERS?! :) Hopefully boy  #2 likes Star Wars too so we can get some sort of return on investment! LOL!

Riley's Darth Vader Birthday Cake!

I have to at least post some pictures of Riley's CRAZY Birthday cake! I'll circle back later to cover the details of the party!

Yes! That is his cake! And yes! It exceeded any and all expectations Kelly and I had! And YES it actually tasted as YUMMY as it looked!!! Which even further exceeded our expectations!

Now our only problem is....how do we EVER top this one?! During Riley's party he came up to me and said - Mommy, I'm ready to go eat Darth Vader's eyes! LOL!

Later I asked what was your favorite thing about your birthday and he said "Darth Vader!!!" Which was great b/c he started telling me he wanted a Star Wars Light Saber birthday about 2 days before...so glad Darth Vader was able to save the day!

Riley's Actual 3rd Birthday in Pictures!

Riley's Darth Vader Jumbo Cupcake!
Darth Vader with the Light Sabers for his friends!

Light Sabers!
Waiting patiently for grace, birthday song and to blow out the candle!

Still waiting...patiently...

I thought he wouldn't want to eat it, but he dove right in and ate BOTH his eyes first!
Then he wanted a small chocolate cupcake to go with his jumbo Vader.

Yummy!
Yummy! To Riley's Tummy!

His friends Ava & Blake!

Lexi - she's obviously shy! :)

Vanshi!

Opening his birthday gifts at home after his school party! Yes! It's Star Wars wrapping paper, but NOT Star Wars gifts!

He's got this unwrapping thing down now!

Thomas - The Misty Island Rescue Shaky Bridge Train Set!

Tear it up!

Bigger pieces than that!

GeoTrax Toy Story 3 Train Set with Exploding Bridge! Yea!

Okay..so maybe there were a couple of Star Wars presents...we didn't have to remind him about these!
He was telling us every character on the bags first!
Star Wars figures that I can actually PLAY with! Yippee!

And a BLUE light saber! The ONLY one he didn't have! :) Notice who's standing behind Daddy!

More light saber action!

More! With sound effects!

Intimidating Vader! Riley kept standing in front of him saying "I am YOUR FATHER!"

And now we're off to the light saber duel that has to cover the entire house!
