Sign of What's to Come?

I achieved a parenting milestone I had avoided up to this point in my life this week...and it's one I hoped I would NEVER achieve! I had to go to Conley's Dr appointment with my hair soaking wet straight out of the shower on Monday! Seriously?! Anyone that knows me - knows I don't even take a break once I start drying my hair. It's naturally straight, but not  board straight - so if I let it "air dry" I pretty much look like a very unkept homeless person. It gets humps and lumps in all the WRONG places. Wow! And even worse is that it's Wed, and I still haven't been able to do anything about my hair! At least I can pull it back in a really weak pony tail for now!

Unfortunately, these darn antibiotics I'm taking for the mastitis are doing a MAJOR number on Conley's tummy still so it's pretty much a crying, nursing or sleeping but only on Mommy's tummy cycle we are in now which doesn't lend itself to me even getting to brush my teeth! I literally brushed my teeth at 11 pm last night! Not something I'm proud to brag about, but it is where we are right now! I take my last dose of antibiotic tomorrow, so hopefully things will start to get back to normal (whatever that is with a 3 week old infant) after that!

I haven't even scheduled Conley's newborn portrait session because I don't want him screaming in every picture! :( Hopefully, we'll turn the corner on all this drama this week! Am I the only one that finds the irony in the fact that I'm obsessed with breastfeeding my children to give them nature's perfect food, and they both had to have antibiotics in their first weeks of life! :( At least Conley has remained solely breastfed up to this point! I haven't had to give him poison (formula) yet! Gotta take what I can get at this point! This too shall pass!

Oh yeah, and Riley had not missed ONE day of school this year since we started seeing Dr. Ozzie. And they called for us to come get him from school due to 2 loose stools yesterday after he was home ill 2 days last week! Argh! Thank goodness they called as Kelly was on his way home b/c I'm not sure I'm ready to handle basically 2 ill children at the same time yet! Not by myself! Because Riley still has Riley energy even when he's ill most of the time. Last week was the first time he has been REALLY ill where he would actually lay in bed with me for 2 days straight!

So here's to Mommy being able to fully get ready with a shower, full hair wash AND dry before week's end! We'll see if I'm able to pull that one off! And for Conley's tummy to finally settle back down! Stay tuned!
